MEETING THE PRESERVATION STANDARD
Welcome to our Meeting the Preservation Standard page! This is the best of our knowledge on practical and affordable ways to preserve your artwork. We are always open to learning new and improved techniques and finding new ways to archive and protect artwork for years to come. For 2 dimensional artwork we hinge according to the medium using hinging tapes, Japanese hinges, and archival mounting corners. We line rabbet frames used with unmatted artwork, and use impermeable tape to reduce humidity exposure to artwork going into higher moisture environments. For 3 dimensional artwork we use string stitching, wire stitching, and glue when necessary. We offer multiple UV protected glazing options to keep colors crisp, and keep glass elevated from artwork using spacers or mat walls. We always suggest using an acid free backboard to protect artwork from acidity and only offer acid free mat options.
